NASA Installation and Maintenance

• FUN Facts! - INSTALLATION & MAINTENANCE at the International Space Station, which never returns to Earth, is performed by NASA Astronauts in space.

Installation & Maintenance

FUN Facts; Installation and Maintenance that’s out of this World! Unlike Space Shuttles and Capsules, the International Space Station (ISS) never returns to Earth, so the Astronauts onboard the ISS are responsible not only for operating the Space Station but also for servicing and maintaining it as well.

Like traditional maintenance services here on Earth, there are two types of on-orbit maintenance in space:

Preventive Maintenance;
Which involves inspection, replacement, and cleaning tasks that the Astronauts train for prior to their mission.

Corrective Maintenance;
Which requires the Astronauts to fix a broken or non-functional piece of equipment; this involves troubleshooting and testing in order to deal with an unforeseen situation.

NASA Space Station Maintenance

Master Video Engineering and Design

• FUN Facts! - ENGINEERING & DESIGN was greatly influenced by Leonardo Da Vinci… Regarded as a "Renaissance Man” and one of the World’s first Design Engineers.

Engineering & Design

FUN Facts; Leonardo Da Vinci (1452-1519) lived in Italy for 67 years during the mid-1400s, in a time far before electricity, and 100 years before Galileo had worked out measuring time. Da Vinci is best known as the artist who created the "Mona Lisa" and "The Last Supper," but he was also a self-taught Design Engineer.

His artistic talents enabled him to record his mechanical ideas in his notebooks with enough clarity and detail in his sketches that blueprints for working models could be created, leading to many modern-day innovations today.

Leonardo Da Vinci Engineering Blueprint

Leonardo Da Vinci was the first true "Systems Integration Engineer.

Da Vinci is regarded as the quintessential "Renaissance Man", displaying skills in numerous diverse areas of study. He made significant contributions to art, architecture, science, anatomy, and engineering, producing thousands of concepts that addressed the challenges of mankind and creating a new attitude about understanding how machines worked together, with both theoretical inventions and working models.

Pre-Construction Planning

Master Video Pre-Construction Planning

• FUN Facts! - PRE-CONSTRUCTION PLANNING errors can lead to costly construction mistakes… People don’t plan to fail; they simply fail to plan!

Pre-Construction Planning

FUN Facts; As the old adage goes... “People don’t Plan to Fail; they simply Fail to Plan!” For any successful construction project, the first, and most critical step is Pre-Construction Planning, which must be completed prior to any physical on-site construction activities.

Pre-Construction Planning is a very important preliminary process that’s performed long before any work boots actually step foot on the job site.

Pre-Construction Planning Maximizes Success

The goal is to understand the full scope of a project and its requirements, long before the actual construction begins. Without proper planning, a build can quickly fall into disarray as a result of miscommunication, delays, or unforeseen problems.

Better Forethought... Better Project Outcomes

Construction Phases

A construction project consists of a series of events or tasks that must be completed over time.

• Pre-Construction Phase
The pre-construction phase includes creating a strategic plan, finalizing the design, providing the labor and resources required.

• Construction Phase
The construction project lasts from the moment physical construction begins on-site until the completion of the on-site build.

• Post-Construction Phase
After construction, systems documentation and training are provided, with continuing support services and ongoing maintenance.

Master Video’s Pre-Construction Planning process is vital to the success of the entire project. Pre-Construction Planning checklists include every possible scenario and contingency that the team may encounter during a project, resulting in higher-quality work that meets the requirements of a project, including budget, time, and resources.

Master Video Pre-Construction Planning Blueprint
We have over 60 years of hands-on experience in Television, Audio-Visual, and Security systems, specializing in Healthcare and Hospitals, Hospitality and Lodging, Event Centers and Entertainment Venues, Schools and Universities, Corporate and Commercial facilities, and various other markets.

In our preliminary engineering and planning stage, we define the scope of the project, conduct needs analysis, identify any potential issues, provide cost estimates, schedule and plan related construction, and provide Project Management for each job.

The old adage, ‘Measure Twice and Cut Once,’ has never been so true with Pre-Construction Planning. We double-check our measurements and specs for accuracy long before the construction, installation, and implementation process begins.

Measure Twice Cut Once

Pre-Construction Benefits:

• Shared Vision; everyone involved is on the same page.
• Feasibility Assessment; ensures it gets done within scope.
• Budgetary Boundaries; cost estimating avoids unforeseen costs.
• Team Communication; sets groundwork for a successful project.
• Efficiency Increases; anticipates and avoids potential delays.
• Problem Prevention; drastically limits missteps and overruns.
• Improved Satisfaction; planning correlates to higher satisfaction.

A Big-Picture Way to Maximize Time & Save Money

Master Video’s Pre-Construction Planning helps maximize success by providing a clear path through complex challenges. We combine strategic thinking and innovative insights with a practical approach to deliver outstanding AV and UC services and reliable performance, on-time, and on budget.

Egyptian Pyramids Project Management

• FUN Facts! - PROJECT MANAGEMENT can be traced back to as early as the Biblical age, with the construction of the great Egyptian Pyramids, some 4,500 years ago.

Project Management

FUN Facts; Throughout history, ingenious architects and engineers have delivered impressive projects such as Stonehenge (3000 BC), the Great Pyramid of Giza (2570 BC), the Hanging Gardens of Babylon (600BC), the Great Wall of China (208 BC), and the Roman Coliseum (70 AD), to name a few.

Over the Centuries, people have actively pursued the execution of projects in varying degrees using the basic Project Management skills of planning, scheduling, and executing. Project management is the process of leading the work of a team to achieve all project goals within the given constraints. The objective of Project Management is to produce a completed project which complies with the client's objectives.

Project Management Pyramid Constructions

“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.”
Alexander Graham Bell

Modern Project Management really started to take shape in the early 1900s with the development of Gantt charts, named after its inventor, Henry Gantt, who designed charts that show the dependency relationships between activities and the current schedule status.

In the 1940s the U.S. Military launched the first official Project Management program with the development of nuclear weapons. The Critical Path Method (CPM) was developed in the 1950s to advance Military missile programs.

By the 1960s, NASA used complex Project Management techniques to land men on the moon and bring them home safely.

Managed Services

EDS Ross Perot Early Managed Services

• FUN Facts! - MANAGED SERVICES started in the early days of computers, when Ross Perot, Founder of EDS, bundled technology systems together as a service.

Managed Services

FUN Facts; In the early days of computers, when technology was young, computer systems maintenance and repair were performed only as needed, based on a “Break/Fix” services model. Individual Vendors would only service their specific equipment and software when something went wrong… The more computer systems and software, the more vendors, and more expense.

That all changed in 1963, when Ross Perot, Founder of EDS (Electronic Data Systems) signed a multi-year Managed Services contract with Lay’s Potato Chips of Dallas to manage their computer systems. 5 years later, growing to 300 employees, EDS went public in 1968 and grew annual revenues to over $100 million by 1973.

Ross Perot EDS Managed Services

EDS won the U.S. Army contract in 1982 worth more than $5 million a month. Two years later, General Motors bought EDS for $2.6 billion.

Managed Services today, is the practice of outsourcing the responsibility for managing, maintaining, and servicing technology platforms from a single source, in order to streamline operations and reduce expenses.
