Egyptian Pyramids Project Management

• FUN Facts! - PROJECT MANAGEMENT can be traced back to as early as the Biblical age, with the construction of the great Egyptian Pyramids, some 4,500 years ago.

Project Management

FUN Facts; Throughout history, ingenious architects and engineers have delivered impressive projects such as Stonehenge (3000 BC), the Great Pyramid of Giza (2570 BC), the Hanging Gardens of Babylon (600BC), the Great Wall of China (208 BC), and the Roman Coliseum (70 AD), to name a few.

Over the Centuries, people have actively pursued the execution of projects in varying degrees using the basic Project Management skills of planning, scheduling, and executing. Project management is the process of leading the work of a team to achieve all project goals within the given constraints. The objective of Project Management is to produce a completed project which complies with the client's objectives.

“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success.”
Alexander Graham Bell

Modern Project Management really started to take shape in the early 1900s with the development of Gantt charts, named after its inventor, Henry Gantt, who designed charts that show the dependency relationships between activities and the current schedule status.

In the 1940s the U.S. Military launched the first official Project Management program with the development of nuclear weapons. The Critical Path Method (CPM) was developed in the 1950s to advance Military missile programs.

By the 1960s, NASA used complex Project Management techniques to land men on the moon and bring them home safely.

Fast-forward to today, Project Managers are now relying on collaborative online management tools to help them stay more organized and efficient, with the goal of preventing time-frame issues and process bottlenecks.

Managed Services

EDS Ross Perot Early Managed Services

• FUN Facts! - MANAGED SERVICES started in the early days of computers, when Ross Perot, Founder of EDS, bundled technology systems together as a service.

Managed Services

FUN Facts; In the early days of computers, when technology was young, computer systems maintenance and repair were performed only as needed, based on a “Break/Fix” services model. Individual Vendors would only service their specific equipment and software when something went wrong… The more computer systems and software, the more vendors, and more expense.

That all changed in 1963, when Ross Perot, Founder of EDS (Electronic Data Systems) signed a multi-year Managed Services contract with Lay’s Potato Chips of Dallas to manage their computer systems. 5 years later, growing to 300 employees, EDS went public in 1968 and grew annual revenues to over $100 million by 1973.

Ross Perot EDS Managed Services

EDS won the U.S. Army contract in 1982 worth more than $5 million a month. Two years later, General Motors bought EDS for $2.6 billion.

Managed Services today, is the practice of outsourcing the responsibility for managing, maintaining, and servicing technology platforms from a single source, in order to streamline operations and reduce expenses.

Master Video, Video Walls

• DYK - The first Video Walls emerged in the early 1980s when standard 28” CRT (Cathode Ray Tube) monitors were stacked together, resulting in large gaps between screens.

Why Video Walls?

Did You Know; The story of the first Video Walls in the early 1980s begins when large 28-inch CRT screens were stacked and cubed together to make a “Video Wall.” It was such a revolutionary concept, that the large bezel gaps between the screens were hardly even noticed back then.

Master Video CRT Video Wall Cube

The first Video Walls used expensive software and processors to “Image Split” a single input video signal. For example, 16 separate image signals could produce one large image on a 4×4 array of CRT monitors to create a 10' x 10' Video Wall.

Today, technology has come a long way in size, shape, and resolution. Video Wall Systems are an integrated solution consisting of multiple components; An array of high-resolution displays driven by a powerful processing system and software. Together, the video wall behaves like a single display that can deliver performance, flexibility, and interactivity that simply is not possible with more basic display solutions.

Types of Video Walls
Video walls come in a large range of display technologies, including LCD, LED, blended projection, projection cubes, and more. Each display type offers unique advantages in terms of resolution, brightness, reliability, cost, and other factors.

Superior Visual Performance

• Higher Resolutions - Video walls are also much more scalable than projectors, since the display surface can be expanded without sacrificing image quality.

• Powerful Processing - Superior processing abilities enable video walls to deliver fluid visual performance and display large amounts of high-resolution content.

• Superior Brightness - These displays maintain consistent brightness regardless of their size, while front-projected images become dimmer and blurrier when they are enlarged.

Flexible Interactive Presentations

• Display Virtually Any Content - A video wall processor can capture signals in different resolutions and formats from a wide range of devices, like cameras, computers, cable boxes, and more.

• Dynamic Content Placement - The video controller enables individual display “tile” displays to work together as a single canvas, from a single display, stretched across multiple displays, or dragged across the display surface.

• Content Manipulation Features - A video wall software processor is a feature-rich interface, providing a range of tools for managing and manipulating content on the displays that can be arranged, scaled, zoomed, cropped, and layered.

Superior Reliability and Versatility

• Reliable & Resilient - Video Wall systems are built from professional-grade components, many specifically designed for 24/7, mission-critical environments, providing Video Wall reliability and resilience.

• Minimal Maintenance - Most Video Walls have no consumable parts and require virtually no maintenance over years of operation, making them a more affordable long-term solution.

• Flexible Size & Shape - Video walls provide unique versatility, and can be wall-mounted, free-standing, curved, non-rectangular, three-dimensional, and can be small enough to be portable or scaled to massive dimensions.

• DYK - The first in-house local origination Video Content for rebroadcast was in the 1970s, using ¾” Sony U-Matic videotapes in hotels and hospitals across America..

Why Video Content?

Did You Know; The story of Video Content for in-house and local origination video for rebroadcast began in the early 1970s when Sony launched the first analog video cassette format, “U-Matic, which used a large 3/4" videotape.
